Every artist plays an important role in society, one way or another. The same applies to DJs such as Letlhogonolo Kolobe from Matswale, Phase 10 in Musina. Letlhogonolo, affectionately known as Flawless DJ, reckons that his music brings people together.

Growth, consistency and hard work are the three things that characterise the journey of this versatile DJ, music producer and event organiser. He explained the purpose behind his music production. "I want to break societal boundaries through music. My wish is to see the rich and the less privileged, the jubilant and sad share in the beat and dance together in harmony."

The 25-year-old artist is currently preparing his upcoming six-track debut Amapiano EP, titled From Tswak to the world, which will be featuring various local as well as two Zimbabwean artists. The EP is due to be released by 31 July and the hit maker promises that it will be good.

Letlhogonolo's love of music was sparked at the age of 11. Shortly afterwards, he started playing behind the decks at birthday parties and street bashes, before he was permitted to play at pubs, clubs and taverns.

"I was just a kid who really enjoyed listening to music and dancing. So, in the midst of all that, I automatically fell in love with mixing songs. I used to mess around with a software program, called virtual DJ, and as time went by, I mastered it."

Fast forward a few years and he was able to start using the Sony Acid software, which allowed him to create mixtapes. "This software really allowed me to grow and enabled me to get my name out there. I'm getting booked every weekend from near and far places. Music has been the most peaceful and influential thing I've ever experienced," he said.
