Tshivhilidulu Hungry Lions are the champions of the Petrus Madzuhe Soccer Tournament. They beat Edison Muraida 1-0 in the final at the Maranzhe Grounds on Sunday.

They received R6 000, a floating trophy and soccer kit during a ceremony held at the grounds shortly after the final whistle.

Edsison Muraida went home with a cash prize of R4 000 and a soccer kit, while the teams booted out of the tournament in the semi-final stage, Voweto Maximum Force and Tshambobvu Junior Aces, were each given a cash prize of R1 000.

Voweto Maximum Force lost 0-4 to Tshivhilidulu Hungry Lions earlier that day, while Junior Aces were pushed out of the tournament by Edison Muraida, who beat them 4-2.

One of the organisers, Mr Calvin Sihwili, said that 11 teams took part in this year's event. He stated that one of the clubs, Matangari High Aims, were dismissed from the tournament after it was discovered that they had fielded an improperly registered player in their game against Edison Muraida FC. Muraida lost the game 1-3.

Sihwili said that the tournament would be staged again at the same venue next year. According to him, the tournament will be bigger next year in terms of the sponsorship amount and the number of teams that will participate.
