Limpopo-born artist Fortunator says his upcoming album is more than a set of tracks – it is a story of perseverance, culture and joy.
"I am … showing listeners where I have been and where I am headed," he says. Fans have embraced the singles released ahead of the project, giving him confidence to stay true to his sound while experimenting with new elements.
His rise has been shaped by collaborations with national stars, including Makhadzi. "Those moments confirmed that Limpopo talent belongs on the national stage," he says.
Bolobedu house remains his foundation, but the new album blends traditional rhythms with modern production, live instruments and African influences. "It is still rooted in Limpopo but with a global edge," he says.
One recording session saw children from the neighbourhood join in on a chant that made it onto a track. "It reminded me why I make music – to connect with real people."
Fortunator hopes the album leaves listeners uplifted and proud. "Whether they are from a village or a big city, I want them to dance, reflect and believe in their own journey."
Looking ahead, he is preparing music videos, a national tour starting in Limpopo and collaborations with Charma Gal, DJ Gun-Do SA, DJ M Flows, Han C and BomberBeats.
