According to the spokesperson of the police in the area, Const Sylvia Hlungwane, the driver of a Toyota Hilux bakkie, Mr Cedda Kelly (32), was driving in the direction of Lydenburg when the accident occurred. Acording to the statement, he apparently lost control of the vehicle before it collided with a bakery truck that was coming from the opposite direction.
There were three occupants in the truck, including the driver, Mr Vincent Ngobeni (29). The statement further indicates that the two vehicles caught fire during the collision. Both drivers and the truck passengers burnt beyond recognition.
The police have appealed to anyone who might have seen the two passengers boarding a lift on the truck to contact them at Maake police station, saying it was difficult for them to identify the two bodies.
