Four teams from Ravele village will participate in the soccer challenge of former Black Leopards striker Ivan Mahangwahaya, which takes place on 16 June at the Dragons Ground.

Four teams from Ravele village will participate in the soccer challenge of former Black Leopards striker Ivan Mahangwahaya, which takes place on 16 June at the Dragons Ground.

In the first match, starting at 10:00, Mubva All Stars will come up against their younger brothers, Daniel Mubva FC. The next match, starting at 12:00, will be between Ravele Black Dragons and Ravele Highlanders. The winners will proceed to the final match, scheduled to start at 15:00.

The champions will receive R4 000, a floating trophy, gold medals and a soccer kit. The runners-up will receive R1 000, silver medals and a soccer kit The teams that ends up in third and fourth positions will get R600, R400 and soccer kits.

According to the organiser, Mr Ivan Mahangwahaya, the cash prizes are likely to increase, depending on the amount they will receive from the other sponsors.

He said that the organisers were very proud to host the annual event. "The importance of sport in the lives of young people goes much further than the basic answer that it keeps kids off the streets. It does in fact keep young people off the streets, but it also instils lessons that are essential in the life of a human being," he said.

He added that, through sports, people could learn values such as discipline, responsibility, self-confidence, sacrifice, and accountability. "It is up to the community, parents, teachers, sports teams, traditional leaders and schools to help mould, develop and instil these qualities into the lives of young people."
