Four teams from Lwamondo will take part in the Survivor Khuthi Soccer Tournament at the Lwamondo Baboon Grounds on Saturday. The draw for the semi-final matches will be conducted at the venue on Friday morning.
The participating teams – Lwamondo Pull Together, Madala Silver Stars, Tshifulanani Celtic and Tshifulanani Maximum Force – are all affiliated with the Thulamela Local Football Association.
According to the chairperson of the organising committee, Ms Marcia Mudau, the winners will receive R3,000, a floating trophy, gold medals, a soccer ball, and sanitary towels to be donated to the school of their choice.
The runners-up will walk away with R2,000, silver medals and a soccer ball, while the third-placed team will receive R1,000 and a soccer ball.
The first semi-final is scheduled to kick off at 09:00, with the second match set for 11:00. The final is expected to start at 14:30, followed by a prize-giving ceremony at the grounds shortly after the final whistle.
