Four teams from Vhufuli and the surrounding villages are gearing up for the Victra Easter Soccer Tournament. The tournament will be staged at the Vhufuli Gooldville grounds next Saturday, 15 April.
The teams that will battle it out in the one-day event are: Tshitereke Young Masters, Tshitereke Citizen Stars, Domboni FC and Gooldville Young Tigers.
The tournament was officially launched during a ceremony at the premises of Victra Car Wash last Saturday. The sponsor, Mr Tsatsawane Gumani from the Victra Group of companies, appealed to the players to demonstrate a spirit of fair play throughout the tournament. He promised that the tournament will become an annual event if this year's tournament is a success.
The champions for the tournament will take home R3 500, a floating trophy, a soccer kit, gold medals and two soccer balls. The prize for the runners-up is R1 800, a soccer kit, silver medals and two soccer balls. The third placed side will receive R750 and two soccer balls while R650 and two soccer balls are awaiting the team that will finish in the 4th spot. The top goal scorer in the tournament will take home a trophy and R250. The best player of the tournament will receive R500 and a trophy.
Gooldville Young Tigers and Tshitereke Citizen Stars will meet in the first match, which is scheduled to start at 09:00. The second match will be between Domboni FC and Tshitereke Young Masters and will start at 11:00.
The winners in the semi-final matches shall lock the horns in the final later in the afternoon.
