In the quiet town of Venga, far from the noise of the main stream, a new rhythm is taking shape. It is subtle but unmistakable — a frequency that pulls you in, slows your heart rate and opens up space in the mind. At the centre of this energy is BLACKZA_SA, a producer, DJ and sound engineer whose approach to house music borders on the spiritual.

His story begins in Kenya, where music was more than background sound — it was a family tradition. With grandparents on both sides being avid music lovers, BLACKZA_SA grew up surrounded by melodies and records, watching, listening and absorbing. "It comes from the DNA," he says.

That early connection evolved into something more deliberate when he moved to South Africa and enrolled at Cape Audio College to study sound engineering — a move that would shape his future in ways he could not have imagined at the time.

The transition from Kenya to South Africa brought more than a change of scenery. It exposed him to the deep, pulsing currents of South African house music — a sound he immediately connected with. Rather than simply consuming it, he felt a calling to become part of the movement. So, he immersed himself in the software, theory and creative discipline needed to carve his place in it. What emerged was a sound that is both informed and instinctive — polished yet organic, soulful yet measured.

Over the years, BLACKZA_SA has collaborated with a growing list of artists, creating tracks that resonate far beyond the studio. Among his most notable works are a collaboration with T-Cole titled Talk, and two emotionally rich tracks with Pushie DA Tall — NdoNeta and Don't Give Up. He also ventured into international territory with DJ Browncat in Germany, producing a full album called 109BPM Experimental House Vol 1, a slow-burning project built on intention and mood rather than speed and spectacle.

His solo work, however, remains deeply personal. His latest project, Experimental House Vol 2, is a four-track EP designed to do one thing: help the listener relax. That was the brief, the purpose, the feeling he set out to create. The result is a sonic space where tension dissolves and each track breathes with its own pulse.

For BLACKZA_SA, choosing a favourite is impossible. Each song, he says, touches his soul in a different way — and when he listens back, he often feels as though he is in another realm entirely.

He treats every mix like a sculpture, with every layer and every frequency placed with intent. Yet he insists, creativity and technicality must always serve each other. "Creativity and technical precision must go hand in hand," he says. "Ensuring no clash."

Influenced by the godfathers of house music, BLACKZA_SA carries their legacy forward on his own terms. His music does not follow trends — it follows feeling. And in a world that often demands louder, faster, more, he dares to offer stillness.

There is more to come from the Venga-based artist, though he prefers not to say too much too soon. "There are various things I am working on. Time will tell when ready," he says quietly, with the confidence of someone who understands that the best work often takes time.
