The Makwarela gospel comedian, Mukovhe Magwedze known as Mr Majo, was nominated for two national awards in two forthcoming events.

The Makwarela gospel comedian, Mukovhe Magwedze known as Mr Majo, was nominated for two national awards in two forthcoming events.

In the Mzanzi Gospel Music Awards that will take place at Centurion on Sunday, he was nominated for the best comedian award, and for the Independent National Gospel Music awards in Pretoria on the 13th of this month, he was nominated for the gospel stand-up award.

Mr Majo is a hilarious gospel stand-up comedian and entertainer. Known for his mesmerizing and captivating story-telling abilities, which are accompanied by funny punch lines and jokes, he is rapidly building a big fan base wherever he sets foot. He was raised by his mother and his uncle, the late Bishop Sammy Raseluma. He grew up in a loving family that is very fond of laughter. It is said that his humour was nurtured by his love of stand-up comedy and TV sitcoms.

He enrolled for a BA in Film and TV Production at the University of Cape Town in 2008 and he also studied drama. He was also involved in a few stage plays and student films.

Mr Majo started writing his own material and has been performing in various places across the country. His ability to make people to laugh led to his title, "Almost famous", as many people stated that he was heading to the top. His material is based on his family, childhood experiences, current affairs and even a funny outlook on the occurrences in churches. He delivers an energetic, unique and hilarious programme with nothing but clean jokes, suitable for the whole family in most South African languages.
