The Ravele community is saddened by the death of Vho-Mukumela Mafuvha, who passed away on Saturday, 22 October, at the age of 102 years.
Granny Mafuvha, who was an active member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ravele, had not been well for some time and died at her home.
The late Mafuvha's son, Mr Freddy Mafuvha, said that the family members preferred to celebrate the life of their beloved old mother, who had been a pillar of strength to so many for the past 102 years. "My mother was a great leader and a great lady. She will always be remembered for her dedication to her family and church activities, which made her the darling of thousands of church members. She was one of a kind, a unique person who was always ready to help others. We have lost a great mother," he said.
Fellow church member Mr Alfred Malada said that, although Mafuvha's death was hard for them all, they were consoled by the knowledge that she had worked tirelessly for the Lord until her last day on earth. "She dedicated her life to the church, and the church has undergone a positive metamorphosis because of her. We know she is enjoying her new life in the hands of the Almighty. We would also like to thank God for giving us this wonderful gift of knowing her," he said.
Mafuvha will be buried on Saturday, 29 October, at the Ravele graveyard. The service starts at 06:00.
