Gyad Reaction has become a standout figure in South Africa's digital space for his energetic, honest and relatable reaction videos. Known for blending humour with authenticity, the Venda-born creator has built a loyal following by staying true to himself and his roots.
He said his journey had started from a simple passion for expressing his thoughts about music, funny moments and trending topics. "I used to watch other creators and think, 'I can bring a different energy to this.' What really inspired me was seeing how reactions could connect people. Laughter, shock, real opinions – it's all about emotion. I wanted to create content that feels real and relatable to everyday South Africans, especially Vhavenda," he said.
Gyad describes his style as a mix of humour, honesty and personality. "I don't try to act; I just react like myself," he said. He enjoys reacting to music most, saying it allows him to explore emotions and connect people across different backgrounds. "There's something powerful about how music connects people. I love breaking down lyrics, beats and emotions and seeing how artists express their stories," he said.
To keep his reactions genuine, he often goes in without preparation. "That's what keeps the reactions authentic and fun – the audience gets to see my genuine first impression," he said. Authenticity, he added, was what defined his work. "I'd rather grow more slowly but stay real, because people can feel when you're genuine," he said.
Several of his videos have gone viral unexpectedly. "Sometimes it's a music reaction or a funny clip I didn't even plan to post. When those videos go viral, it reminds me that people connect most with genuine reactions," he said.
Handling emotional or sensitive topics, he said, had been among his biggest challenges. "You want to be entertaining, but you also need to show respect and empathy. Balancing emotion and understanding is not always easy," he said.
Gyad values his audience deeply. "My audience is part of my creative process. It feels like a community, not just followers," he said.
Looking ahead, he hopes to expand beyond reactions. "I've already started working on a business that I'll be announcing very soon. I want to be recognised as a successful businessman who started from content creation and turned it into something bigger," he said.
