Well-known local journalist and correspondent of Limpopo Mirror, Ndivhuwo Musetha, escaped death by a whisker, when he was attacked in his house at Tshilamba early on Saturday morning.

Musetha sent us a report from his hospital bed at the MediClinic in Polokwane on Monday. According to him, the incident took place between 01:30 and 02:00 when his wife heard a disturbing noise coming from the kitchen in their house, where they were sleeping with the children and their cousin.

"When I walked through the passage to investigate, I met a thug who stabbed me in my left eye with a sharp instrument. This was done without any provocation or any exchange of words. Another thug also hit me on the right side of my neck with a heavy object."

After a struggle, the thugs ran away and Musetha was taken to the Block G clinic. He was transferred to the MediClinic.

By 06:40 on Saturday morning they arrived in Polokwane. An eye specialist was called in and they operated immediately on his eye. He is at present recovering in hospital, and is still suffering severe pain.

The full interview, as well as an update on Musetha's condition will be published in our printed edition on Friday.
