Local Afro-jazz singer Mbulaheni Joseph Matsiari has released his second album, Heartache in the Heart, showcasing his unique style and melodies.

The Louis Trichardt-born musician's new album features 10 tracks, including Secret, Say No to Women and Children, Leave or Stay, and an instrumental version of Fool Me Thrice. The songs are filled with authentic rhythms that appeal to audiences across different tastes.

"I sing about topical issues, and my lyrics are a way of conveying messages. On this album, I aim to raise awareness, especially among the youth, about the importance of preserving our culture. Things are not going well today because we are neglecting our roots. The gods have forsaken us, and we must humble ourselves and return to the basics," he said.

Matsiari explained that Secret urged listeners to accept the end of a relationship. "One cannot force someone to continue loving you. Both parties must allow each other to move on, instead of letting jealousy and bitterness take over. Many relationships break down because of mistrust or harmful actions that happen late at night. It's always advisable to be mindful and return home on time," he said.

He added that music transcended cultural boundaries. "Music has a language of its own. People from different backgrounds can listen and still be touched. For me, music is art that communicates messages, heals, and impacts society emotionally," Matsiari said.
