Highlanders crowned as netball champions

Ravele Highlanders were crowned champions of SK Arts and Culture Community Sport Development netball tournament, which was recently held at Ravele.

Ravele Highlanders were crowned champions of SK Arts and Culture Community Sport Development netball tournament, which was recently held at Ravele.

The secretary, Mr Joseph Raphadana, said the main purpose of the organisation was to develop young stars from grassroots level. He said that his organisation would like to continue to develop their relationship with different organisations and to provide something tangible that the people would value.

He praised the team managers and players for their dedication and commitment during their matches. He said that the event clearly indicated that his organisation wanted to serve members of the community to bring development of sport in the area.

Cllr David Davhana applauded SK Arts and Culture Community Sport Development for helping to identify the talent of the region's youth and added that the youth of the region should be proud of their talent and that they should be exposed to bigger teams.

Ravele Highlanders went home with R4 000, gold medals and a floating trophy. The runners-up, Madombidzha Netball Club, received silver medals and R2 500.The third position went to Tshiozwi Dynamos, who received R1 500 and bronze medals.
