A large number of music lovers is expected to attend the House Warming local music festival at the Louis Trichardt Show Grounds tomorrow (Saturday).

The festival has been organised by CR Productions. According to the organiser, Mr Rendani Mudau, since the festival was founded last year, it had gained momentum and several popular artists will perform this year. According to him, the festival is aimed at providing a development platform for the growing number of local artists seeking opportunities.

"We see the event as contributing to social cohesion and nation building, while entrenching our African identity through musical performances," he said. "Our main aim is not to make profit, but to market our province and show our talent."

He stated that the vision of the festival was mainly to allow local vernacular hip-hop artists a platform at a mainstream level. "Very little is going on with regard to the promotion of Venda artists in South Africa. Some artists have already released more than three albums, but have never performed for an audience bigger than 50 people. But the quality of their music is no less, compared to any hip-hop or house stars around the world."

He indicated that there was a huge hip-hop culture in the district and it hurt to see things ending up in the street or being pirated without benefiting the artists. Some of the artists who will perform at the festival are Mizo Phyll, Fizzy, Prifix, DJ Mfush, DJ Majozi, Square PASS, DJ Matt P and Mag Dee, DJ SNY and Bundu.

Tickets are available at the gate at R40 per person, but the price of VIP tickets is R100. The gate will open at 11:00 and security will be very strict.
