Home Defenders win Mhleketo games

Mpheni Home Defenders were crowned as the new champions of the Mhleketo Driving School tournament when they hammered Tshakhuma Nandilani FC 4-0 in the final at Mpheni on Saturday.

Defenders started the game like a house on fire. That forced Tshakhuma to play the first 15 minutes of the game with their backs against the wall. A corner kick in the 16th minute resulted in a scramble within the box and Khumbudzo "Shavi" Muvhango scored with a powerful shot. Mates' midfielders continued to create several dangerous moves from the middle of the park, with Mabilu chasing the action. The half-time score was 1-0 in favour of Defenders.

Defenders sacrificed Thabo Matuba, who gave way to Dakalo Nwanamidwa. Nwanamidwa forced his way through the defence of Tshakhuma and beat the keeper with a volley to bring the score to 2-0 in the 56th minute.

Tshakhuma continued to play entertaining football, despite the setback. They were denied what was arguably a legitimate goal in the 78th minute. Mabogo Nevari's goal was disallowed on the basis that the scorer was in an offside position.

Vincent Ramunana scored the third for Defenders from a free kick. The last goal and fourth goal of Defenders was scored by Lucky Munyai. He caught the keeper napping and beat him with a volley.
