Limpopo Department of Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA) MEC Basikopo Makamu expressed confidence in the leadership of Hosi Vusimuzi Nxumalo (36) of Magona village during Nxumalo's inauguration on Friday, 1 September.
Nxumalo's predecessor, Hosi Magona Nxumalo, passed away in 2021.
The new traditional leader's inauguration ceremony was attended by the executive mayor of Vhembe District Municipality, Dowelani Nenguda, the mayor of Collins Chabane Municipality, Shadrack Maluleke, the chairperson of the Limpopo House of Traditional Leaders, Hosi Pheni Ngove, other traditional leaders, and the representatives of key stakeholders.
MEC Makamu thanked Nxumalo for the sterling work he had already begun with in Gidjana village for the betterment of his community. "Your participation in the social cohesion and economic development of our communities is crucial. It is for this reason that we are consistent in showing our open commitment to provincial traditional leadership matters by always reserving time to meet with you and your communities, especially on occasions where we celebrate ancient practices such as this," said Makamu.
Nxumalo has been active in inviting government entities such as the National Student Finance Aid Scheme to educate students from local schools that he adopted about the available opportunities to those who do well in matric. The initiative went so well that it was later implemented throughout the Malamulele East Circuit.
Gidjana village is faced with a plethora of service-delivery challenges that include water shortages, undeveloped access roads, and deterioration of infrastructure at local schools and health services. Nxumalo promised to work with all civic structures and the government to tackle these challenges.
