Nnditsheni Netshifhefhe, a very gifted multi-instrumentalist from Vondwe village, says that if he were to die now, it would be with a broken heart as he never got the chance to realise his lifetime dream of having his music recorded in a professional studio and hearing it played on radio.
Netshifhefhe is well known among his fellow villagers and people from the surrounding area for his traditional Tshivenda performances. Not only does he sing, but he also plays the concertina, acoustic guitar and hand piano (mbila). He has been entertaining the locals at social gatherings for the past 10 years now. "I go to these gatherings voluntarily to entertain the people because everyone around here loves my performance. I also hope that someone out there sees the potential of my talent and offers to help me to take my music to a higher level. That has not happened yet, but I'm hopeful."
Netshifhefhe is also famously known as Zwidzholodzholo for his outstanding pot-cooking skills. Because he is unemployed, he takes on any given job and tries to save as much as he can to have his music recorded. "I don't want to go to my grave without sharing my talent with the world. It pains me to hear other people's music on the radio because they have the financial muscle to back them, while mine is yet to be discovered. This is not about me as an individual. My music will help to preserve our culture and traditions and teach young people to take traditional music seriously."
