Popular social media influencer Rendani Ratshipondo (21) of Maniini, better known as Rendi Gaga, made a spectacular and unforgettable entrance at the Musangwe Official Championship Heritage Fight, leaving spectators in awe. She was set to face fellow content creator Shirento Honyo in a much-anticipated bout.
The tournament took place at Tshifudi Stadium on Sunday, 29 September.
In a dramatic and unexpected move, Gaga arrived in a casket pulled by a hearse. Amidst stunned applause, she emerged from the casket to face her opponent.
Once in the ring, Gaga appeared confident and ready. However, the fight quickly turned against her. Shirento's onslaught forced Gaga to retreat, and within minutes, she conceded defeat, raising her hands in surrender while protesting what she called an unfair fight.
"I accept defeat but under protest. There are set rules for such fights, but my opponent did not follow any of those rules. Our fight was just like any street brawl, lacking all the professionalism it was supposed to have. The girl was all over me, beating me all over the body. I had to retreat for fear of getting hurt. I have not given up, I am still going to train and challenge her at a later stage. Maybe she would be following the rules by then," she said.
Gaga explained that the casket and hearse were a promotional stunt aimed at boosting her social media presence.
"I am a content creator, and arriving in a casket gained me many fans. When I emerged, the stadium went wild, and I have received a lot of positive feedback. This is all about building up my brand, and I am living up to that," she said.
