Multi-talented musician Ishmael Neluonde, who goes by the stage name Ishmael De Vocalist, began his music journey back in 2010 but put it on hold to complete his secondary education.
The 36-year-old artist from Tshisaulu Posaito outside Thohoyandou is back in the game. His first comeback attempt was the single Ngavhe Ndi Zwidivhe, which he released in 2023. The single was followed by a full album, Thambulo, released in January 2024.
He released another hit album, Ndi Nne Onoula, in June 2024. The album was a resounding success and made him a much sought-after performer for live shows.
As if that were not enough, Ishmael is back with a bang, having released two new singles. The first, Mpfareni, features Romeo The Great White and was released in April 2025. His latest single, Ndotokondelela, featuring Nasty King, was released on 7 May. Both tracks were recorded at his own studio in Tshisahulu and were produced by himself.
"I am back full force. I took a long break from the music scene to sort out a few things. I managed to set up a studio, where I now do my recordings. I'm going to give more quality music. As things stand, I'm ready for the big time. I'm back to reclaim my top spot in the music industry," he said.
Neluonde believes that his latest singles have shown the country what he is capable of. "I'm busy with my third album, which will be released before the end of the year," he said.
Ishmael De Vocalist began his career at the Temptation Gospel Choir and has collaborated with several well-known local artists, including Ravusto, Prifix, Pro Heed, Da Lova, Pfari De Poet and King Proef.
