Jacob comfortably won this gruelling halfmarathon in a time of 1:16:15, almost two minutes faster than his time of 1:17:54 last year. More than three minutes later, Andries Pilusa from Tzaneen came in second in a time of 1:19:28. He was closely followed by Lucas Nonyana from Liberty Life in third place in a time of 1:19:47.
The first woman to cross the finishing line was Jacoba Badenhorst from ANWN in a time of 2:05:50. She was also the first veteran lady home. Laetitia Geldenhuys from Run/Walk for Life was second in a time of 2:17:15, followed by Wilma Whitcomb, third, in a time of 2:12:42.
As for the veteran men, Thomas Nkobene from the Soutpansberg Club was first in a time of 1:30:29. Second was Nick Wright from Tzaneen in 1:47:23. Quintus Smalman from Total was third in 2:07:14.
JJ Marais from Run/ Walk for Life was the first men’s master home in 1:54:09, while Petrus Ngobeni from Soutpansberg was the first grand master home in 2:16:40.
The first walker home was Ms E Prinsloo (Run/Walk for Life) in 2:57:56. Christine Collins from the same club was second in a time of 3:01:36.
