Khaiso High the provincial champions

The Seshego-based Khaiso High School were crowed the provincial champions during the Vodacom Interschool Challenge tournament that was staged at the Tshifulanani Stadium last Saturday.

The Seshego-based Khaiso High School were crowed the provincial champions during the Vodacom Interschool Challenge tournament that was staged at the Tshifulanani Stadium last Saturday.

Khaiso beat Hudson Ntsanwisi High School 1-0 in the final.

Five schools from around the Limpopo Province, Khaiso High (from Capricorn District Municipality), Mmadikane High School (Waterberg District), Hudson Ntsanwisi High School (Mopani), Wisdom Combined School (Vhembe) and Mogudi High School (Sekhukhune) took part in the tournament.

Khaiso were presented with gold medals during the prize-giving ceremony that was held at the stadium later that afternoon. The second-placed Hudson Ntsanwisi went home with silver medals. Bronze medals were presented to the third-placed Mmadikana High School.

The individual players whose performance was outstanding in the tournament were also rewarded for a job well done. Lesetja Masokemeng from Khaiso was nominated the best goalkeeper for the tournament. His teammate, Tsepo Mothiba, won the best player of the tournament and the top goal scorer award. They were presented with Vodacom hampers during the ceremony. Hudson Ntsanwisi High Schol and the champions, Khaiso High School, will represent the province in the national championships that will be staged at Klipspruit in Soweto, Johannesburg, on the first week on October.

The national champions will represent the country during the world inter-school championships that will be staged in Turkey early next year. The national champions will be presented with a cheque to the value R200 000. The community where the winning school is based will also be presented with a cheque to the same value.
