Khedzi wants to share knowledge by mentoring young musicians

Gospel musician Psalmist Khathu Khedzi is now offering free mentorship to aspiring artists, sharing his extensive industry knowledge.

Having built a successful career in gospel music, Psalmist Khathu Khedzi is now focused on mentoring aspiring musicians free of charge.

“With trends of music changing nowadays, it is important to empower those who would like to venture into the music industry with the right knowledge. I want to assist young and budding musicians with coaching rehearsals before they go to the studio, choosing the right studio for their music, sound engineering basic knowledge, uploading music on digital stores and contract management after releasing their music,” he said.

Khedzi said he decided to mentor upcoming artists after realising that many musicians lacked the basic knowledge needed to survive in the industry.

“I came to a conclusion that it is best to help the young ones before they venture fully into the music industry. I have accomplished many things in my musical career because there were people who assisted me to be where I am. This is why it is also important for me to assist budding musicians without expecting any rewards,” he said.

Widely respected for his live recordings and performances, Khedzi has collaborated with renowned gospel group Worship House. His popular songs, Bayede Wehlukile and Vha Mudzimu, continue to earn him strong support from gospel music fans.

Originally from Hakhakhu, Khedzi has established himself as one of South Africa’s respected gospel artists, with performances extending to Botswana, Lesotho, Eswatini and Zimbabwe.

He recently collaborated on the Worship House Makomborero Project 21, where he recorded the song Gundo lo vhonala, which is available on digital music platforms.

Preparations are also at an advanced stage for the recording of his live album at the Randburg RCCG Auditorium on 5 September.
