Limpopo's rising lekompo star Khuthadzo Maduwa, known in music circles as Khuthi De Vocalist, capped off a successful year with the release of her new EP, Khunda Vhalai.
The 32-year-old musician from Mulima Pfananani, outside Louis Trichardt, released the four-track project on Saturday, 22 November. It follows the success of her previous EP, Vhusiwana, released in July. Khunda Vhalai includes standout tracks such as the title track and I Love You and was recorded at Shandu de Producer and CXXLMINDZ Records. She collaborated with some luminaries, including Eric de DJ and K* Chosen.
"Vhusiwana has been a phenomenal success, and that motivated me to maintain and even raise the standard. Khunda Vhalai is something out of this world. I reinforced the instrumentation and my voice was at its best. Its lyrics carry strong messages for the youth," Khuthi De Vocalist said. She explained that the title track tells the story of a wayward child who ignores the advice of elders and risks a troubled future.
Khuthi's passion for music began in 2003 as a choir member at Gundo Apostolic Church. Unlike many young musicians who face family opposition, she was encouraged to pursue her calling from an early age.
