The kick-off date for the Safa Vhembe teams, which was originally scheduled for last weekend, has been postponed to the first weekend of December.
This agreement was reached during the clubs' general meeting at the Avkhom Hotel in Thohoyandou last Saturday morning.
During the meeting, the delegates of the MMK League clubs felt that it was necessary for the league to postpone the kick-off date to allow the school-going players to prepare themselves for the final examinations.
During the meeting it was announced that 89 clubs had not yet settled their affiliation fees. The proposed league prizes for the coming season were revealed during the meeting. The overall champions will receive R60 000 and a floating trophy. The second-placed side will take home R40 000. The third- and fourth-placed teams will receive R33 000 and R27 000 respectively.
Teams that will finish from the fifth to the ninth position during the champ of champs' matches will each take home R16 500.
The travelling fees for the referees were also discussed during the meeting. After lengthy discussions, it was agreed that the travelling fee for the referees would increase from R200 to R250 in the coming season. During the meeting, the clubs' representatives were reminded of the R100 fine imposed on the clubs that failed to attend the meetings as stipulated in the league rules and regulations.
During the meeting, the delegates showed their dissatisfaction regarding the league's decision to stage the champ of champs matches at open grounds. When responding, the chairperson of the competitions' committee, Mr Eric Muneri, stated that that would never happen again.
