Lacoste Morning Stars are ready for the new season

With new talent and a returning forward, the club is actively seeking a new coach to guide their ambitions.

The opening matches for the Sasol Women’s League in the Limpopo stream will be played over the weekend of 13 and 14 June. Although teams still have two weeks to prepare for the new season, Lacoste Morning Stars believe they are ready to face any opposition when the new campaign begins.

According to the managing director of the team, Emmanuel Mudau, training sessions started about six weeks ago. Mudau said the team would be competing for the league title this season, unlike previous seasons in which they were content to finish among the top four.

He said assembling a strong squad had not been easy this year and expressed disappointment that the team would be without several players who were regulars last season. Mudau said the players had requested to be released to other Sasol Women’s League clubs in the region.

Mudau further said he had managed to replace the departed players with committed and skilful youngsters. He confirmed that the team’s former centre-forward, Nompilo Nkuna, had returned to the club. He added that four of the new signings are from Mpumalanga, while the other two previously played for a Johannesburg-based club.

Lacoste Morning Stars were still searching for a knowledgeable coach to guide the team at the time of going to print. Mudau appealed to supporters not to panic, saying several coaches had already shown interest in the position.
