Last chance for Limpopo artists to enter LIMPRO Music Awards

Limpopo musicians have until the end of May to submit entries for the inaugural LIMPRO Music Awards, celebrating both new and established provincial talent.

Limpopo musicians still have an opportunity to enter the inaugural LIMPRO Music Awards, with submissions remaining open until the end of May.

The awards, organised by the Limpopo Music Performers Rights Organisation (LIMPRO), aim to celebrate and recognise both upcoming and established artists from across the province.

LIMPRO coordinator Justice Mbedzi confirmed that the main awards ceremony will take place on 1 August at Christ Worship House in Shayandima.

“The awards are open to all artists born in Limpopo, including those currently based in other provinces. The initiative was created to address the lack of recognition often experienced by Limpopo artists on mainstream music award platforms hosted outside the province,” said Mbedzi.

He added that many talented Limpopo artists have struggled for years to gain recognition at major music awards hosted elsewhere in the country.

Nominees in the various genres and categories are expected to be announced on 15 June, after which public voting campaigns and roadshows will begin ahead of the main ceremony in August.

Apart from celebrating musical excellence, organisers believe the event will also contribute positively to the local economy by creating temporary employment opportunities and attracting visitors to the area.

Mbedzi called on businesses, government departments and other stakeholders to partner with LIMPRO to ensure the success of the awards.
