The long-awaited SAB League provincial promotional playoff matches that were scheduled to take place at the Nkowankowa Stadium in Tzaneen this weekend have been postponed. According to the league's provincial coordinator, Ms Refiloe Khoza, the postponement was influenced by the fact that the Capricorn Regional Association was still to produce its regional champions.
Ms Khoza said that an arbitration case between Mohlabile United and Lebash FC was pending in the Capricorn Regional League. According to her, the matter was initially set down for a hearing this Tuesday, but the hearing was postponed until next Monday. The playoffs will now be staged at the same venue next weekend, 29 and 30 July. The other four regions had produced their overall champions about a month ago.
Mr Eric Nevhutanda, the head coach of one of the local contenders, Mukula Young Santos, said that the postponement had done them more harm than good. He added that they would simply have to continue with their normal training sessions. Young Santos had beaten Dipeni FC 3-1 in their regional final game to secure a place in the annual provincial event.
Each team will play four matches in the tournament. The top two teams in the promotional playoffs will gain promotion to the ABC Motsepe League.
