Legend returns: Razzmatazz back on the airwaves at 75

Veteran radio presenter Razzmatazz, Ntshavheni Russel Mashige, is returning to the airwaves at 75 after a 20-year hiatus. Joining Choice FM, he aims to make a significant mark, proving age is just a number. He's excited to reconnect with listeners and share his experience with younger colleagues.

At 75, Ntshavheni Russel Mashige is back on radio after an absence of about 20 years. Better known as Razzmatazz in the broadcasting industry, Mashige says he still has what it takes to make a mark. The veteran presenter will join Choice FM later this month.

“Yes, I’m back again after so many years. I was born for the microphone, and the studio is where I belong. My voice will make miracles behind the microphone, which I have missed for such a long time. I am happy to be reunited with radio and to interact with my dear listeners again,” he told Limpopo Mirror.

Mashige said that despite his age, he is in good health, strong and “fit as a fiddle.” “The wise man who said age is just a number was correct. I will make history as one of the oldest radio presenters in the country. I know a lot of people are waiting for my voice, and I will be ready to hit the ground like never before. I was surprised but happy when Choice FM approached me to join their team. The best part is I will be working with the younger generation, who will learn from me while I catch up with them, as technology has changed a lot since I left radio many years ago.”

Mashige commanded a huge following when he presented Dza Matongoni in the 1990s. He was laid off when Radio Thohoyandou and Radio Venda merged to form Phalaphala FM in 1998.

Choice FM confirmed Mashige’s return in a statement to Limpopo Mirror. “And you are not ready for this: The legend returns! Choice FM is proud to announce that Razzmatazz Tshiendangolo Mashige will be hitting the airwaves with a brand-new slot late February. Your weekend radio experience will never be the same. Welcome back to radio, Vho Mashige!”

The statement also announced Choice FM’s 2026 line-up, which includes Ashifashabba, BK Matewe, Lelo Mogaleadi, Shandu Madima, Majestic, Lufuno Ndouvhada, Lexie Mashapa, Samantha Hlayisi, Sipho Chauke, Rori Mulaudzi, Mundevhele Jos Ncube and Pastor Doctor Muthivhi, among others.
