Legendary FC were crowned the new champions of the RM Fitness Centre and MJN Foundation Soccer Challenge after defeating Pat All Stars 8-7 in the final match on Sunday at the Ramantsha Sports Ground. The winners were determined via penalty shootout after the two teams played to a 3-all draw.
Legendary FC's coach, Mr Scara Masala, expressed his appreciation for the effort and commitment MJN Foundation had shown to the teams in the Sinthumule and Kutama area. "We won because of our early preparations, and we are confident that we will come back to the soccer field for next year's games with more strength and energy to defend our cup," Masala said.
"We achieved our goal and vision of creating a space for socialising and interaction among our men through soccer, and also awarding the deserving teams with cash prizes and football materials," said MJN Foundation secretary Mr Thendo Mavhandu. "We are therefore very grateful to all sponsors who supported us in this project and are looking forward to a more successful tournament again. Congratulations to Legendary FC!"
Legendary FC received R15,000, gold medals, a soccer kit, and a trophy. Mudimeli Pat All Stars, the runners-up, received R10,000, a soccer kit, and silver medals. The two teams that took positions three and four, Ramantsha Blackpool and Ravele Black Dragons, collected R5,000 and R4,000 respectively.
