Legendary musician Albert Mudau gets honoured for his contribution

Senior traditional leader Thovhele Gole Mphaphuli honored gospel artist Albert Mudau for his two decades of community development through music. Mphaphuli urged people to use their talents for societal good without expecting rewards, highlighting Mudau as an example of dedication and originality.

Senior traditional leader Thovhele Gole Mphaphuli has urged people to use their talents to develop their communities without expecting rewards. He was speaking at RS Gardens, Sibasa, on 29 December during the handover of a special community development award to gospel artist Albert Mudau.

“Legends like Albert Mudau need to be celebrated publicly to encourage others to do good for society. He has empowered our community through his God-given musical talent. Although music has changed with technology, Mudau has, for over 20 years, never looked back because music is not a money-making scheme for him, but a calling,” said Mphaphuli.

The event, attended by traditional leaders, musicians, and church and community representatives, also marked Mudau’s more than 20-year musical journey.

Receiving the award, Mudau said: “This is a very special day for me, and it will stay in my memory forever. I have seen it all in the music industry, but through your support, I never gave up despite challenges.”

A teacher by profession, Mudau encouraged young musicians to be original. “Follow your passion and love what you do. For over 20 years, I have sung Biblical hymns without changing my style to follow trends. I now enjoy my trademark because I am unique, and my fans love my music because it has stood the test of time.”

Well-wishers included Sharon Ravele of Phalaphala FM, music producer Ananias Begwa, Dr Alunamutwe Rannditsheni, businessman Rudzani Netshampofu, musician Rapson Rambuwani, and Raymond Madida, who began his musical journey with Mudau.
