It was another busy weekend for the teams affiliated with the National First Division. Mthatha Bucks came back from a 0-2 deficit to hold Black Leopards to a thrilling 2-2 draw at the Mthatha Stadium on Saturday.
It took Black Leopards only five minutes to open their account. Ivan Mahangwahaya found the net, following a neat pass from Mwape Musonda. The visitors from Thohoyandou were two goals ahead when the referee blew the half-time whistle. Ivan Mahangwahaya completed his brace when he blasted in a rocket in the 37th minute.
The home side fought back through Mazwi Mcube and Mashale Rantabane in the 80th and 86th minute respectively.
Jomo Cosmos registered their second victory in a row by beating University of Pretoria 1-0 at the Tuks Stadium in Pretoria. Cosmos's vital goal came via their overlapping Burundian defender, Frederick Nsabiyumva, in the 69th minute.
Magezi drew 0-0 with Mbombela United at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, and Royal Eagles deposited three valuable points into their league account when they outplayed Witbank Spurs 2-0 at the Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg. Both goals came in the last half via Raymond Monama and Cebo Mosema.
Stellenbosch FC beat Santos 1-0 at the Coetzenburg Stadium in Stellenbosch. Zaid Patel scored from the penalty spot in the 54th minute. Real Kings were the hardest hit. They lost 1-5 to Thanda Royal Zulu at the Umhlatuze Sports Complex in Richards Bay. Thanda Royal Zulu are now leading the pack with 13 points, three ahead of Amazulu.
The unexpected happened at the Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban when Amazulu lost 1-2 FC Cape Town. In their Cape Town derby at the Athlone Stadium, Milano United shared the spoils with Cape Town All Stars, following their 1-1 draw. All Stars scored through Andisile Mtsila in the 34th minute before Taairig Fielies scored for the home side in the dying minutes of the game.
