Leopards coach resigns

Black Leopards coach Vladislav Heric resigned as the team coach on Monday night before the match against Bidvest Wits on Tuesday.

Black Leopards coach Vladislav Heric resigned as the team coach on Monday night before the match against Bidvest Wits on Tuesday.

Heric accused the club management of interference. "I couldn't take it anymore," he said. "I discussed the matter with the management of the club and wished them good luck in all their remaining matches."

He further stated that he did not want to waste the club's time and money by promising that he would save the team from relegation, when it actually looks impossible under the current circumstances. He revealed that he was ready to save the team from the relegation ghost, but the interference of the management led to the poor performance.

The club's brand manager, Mr Tshifhiwa Thidiela, said that they were surprised when Heric prepared the team and failed to turn up for Tuesday's match against Wits. He said that they would now rely on the technical director, Sunday Chidzambwa, and assistant coach Abel Makhubela, who was in Germany for a coaching course. Thidiela said Leopards had not received a letter of resignation.

The chairperson of the team, Mr David Thidiela, said that they had received the resignation letter on Tuesday night after they were approached by members of the media, asking them to comment on the resignation of the coach.

Leopards are left with only two matches (Jomo Cosmos and Ajax Cape Town) and they need to win only one match to avoid relegation.
