After beating their rivals, Venda Football Club, at the Thohoyandou Stadium last Saturday, Black Leopards face another steep mountain to climb when they visit Kruger United to honour their Motsepe Foundation Championship League fixture at the Kanyamazane Stadium in Nelspruit on Sunday afternoon.
Although beating Kruger United will not be an easy task, Lidoda Duvha must strive to collect the maximum points at stake if they are serious about securing a place in the promotional playoffs at the end of the season, let alone gaining outright promotion to the Betway Premiership Division.
Like Black Leopards, Kruger United are in the right frame of mind after collecting full points in last Saturday's game. They came back from a 0-1 deficit to beat Milford FC 2-1 at the Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban, staying on course for promotion.
Kruger United are in second place on the log with 40 points, six behind the leaders, Durban City. Black Leopards, who are in sixth place, can only move one step up the standings if they manage to beat Kruger on Saturday.
Whether Leopards' Namibian international, Bethuel Muzeu, will continue from where he left off in their game against VFC remains to be seen. Muzeu scored the only goal in the game to ensure his side stayed in the race for promotion.
Leopards' Zimbabwean striker, Augusto Farai, is a doubtful starter on Sunday. Farai was stretchered off the field with a head injury after colliding with an opponent. Should he not be available for selection, Mwape Musonda and Donald Mudau will be on standby.
