Black Leopards started the new season on a bad note. They came back from their match against Amazulu with empty hands after a 2-1 drubbing at the Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban.

The veteran striker of Amazulu, Siyabonga Nomvete, put Amazulu ahead in the 38th minute to bring the half-time score to 1-0. They increased the margin through Lungelo Dlamini nine minutes later. Lidoda Duvha pulled one back through Roggert Nyundu late in the game.

Jomo Cosmos failed to impress their home crowd. They played to a 1-1 draw with FC Cape Town at the Olën Park Stadium in Potchefstroom. Cosmos were the first to find the net via Edson Skhosana, whose long-range volley hit the crossbar and bounced across the goal line. The visitors from Cape Town found the equalizer via Shaun Olivier. He headed home after a corner kick.

Witbank Spurs collected full points when they beat Milano United 2-1 at the Blue Downs Stadium in Cape Town. Patrick Mubayiwa scored for Spurs in the 37th minute to bring the half-time score to 1-0. Taarig Fielies replied for Milano, but Joshua Souls made sure the team from Emalahleni went back home with maximum points.

The rookies, Magezi FC, could not absorb the pressure and Thanda Royal Zulu beat them 2-1 at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. Mthatha Bucks beat Stellenbosch FC 3-1 at the Mthatha Stadium, while Mbombela United lost 1-2 to Santos at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town.

Royal Eagles drew 1-1 with Real Kings at the Harry Gwala Stadium Pietermaritzburg and the University of Pretoria beat Cape Town All Stars 2-1 at the Tuks Stadium in Pretoria.
