After collecting the maximum league points at the Thohoyandou Stadium last Saturday, Black Leopards will play another league match at the same venue this weekend. They will host Mthatha Bucks on Sunday afternoon.
Just like Black Leopards, Mthatha Bucks also won their match last weekend. They beat Milano United 2-0 at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town.
The Thohoyandou outfit have only pride at stake against Mthatha Bucks, while it will be a matter of life and death for the Eastern Cape side. Bucks are fighting for survival as they are currently lying in the second-last position on the log. Leopards crushed Mthatha Bucks 2-0 at the Mthatha Stadium in their first-round league match six months ago.
The Leopards' regular players, Ruggert Nyundu and Meshack Maphangule, will be available for selection on Sunday. Nyundu was attending to family matters last Saturday while Maphangule was medically unfit, due to the injury he sustained in their game against Moroka Swallows last month. It will be the second match for Leopards' new head coach, Mr Sello Chokoe.
The first whistle is scheduled to be blown at 15:00. The tail-enders, Moroka Swallows, will host Highlandspark at the Dobsonville Stadium. Highlandspark are still fresh from a 2-0 victory over Witbank Spurs. Mbombela United will meet Witbank Spurs in their Mpumalanga derby at the Puma Rugby Stadium in Emalahleni.
Cape Town All Stars will fly to Phuthaditshaba in the Free State, where they will battle it out for league points against African Warriors. The log leaders, Baroka FC, will be the visitors in their match against Vasco Da Gama at the Parow Park Stadium in Cape Town. The Cape Town derby between Milano United and FC Cape Town will be played at the Athlone Stadium.
Royal Eagles will enjoy the home-ground advantage in their match against Amazulu at the Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg. The fact that Amazulu and Royal Eagles are close contenders for the league title is reason enough for soccer fanatics to expect a thriller. Thanda Royal Zulu and Santos will fight for league points at the Umhlatuze Sports Complex.
