With nine matches remaining before the current Motsepe Foundation Championship League programme comes to an end, teams are doing everything possible to gain promotion to the DStv Premiership Division and to escape the relegation axe. Black Leopards are still optimistic that they will collect enough points in their remaining fixtures to secure a place in the promotional playoffs.
According to the chairman of the club, Mr Tshifhiwa Thidiela, Lidoda duvha are still on course for promotion, despite conceding vital league points to Magesi FC, who beat them 1-0 at the Thohoyandou Stadium last Saturday. He stressed the fact that 27 points are still up for grabs in their nine remaining matches.
Thidiela emphasised that anything is still possible considering the fact that the Thohoyandou side is lying in the eighth position on the log with 29 points, 10 behind the pacesetters, Magesi FC. He said that the fact that they would play five of their nine remaining matches in front of their home crowd gave them hope that their set target was still achievable.
Thidiela further stated that their target was to lift the league title trophy at the end of the current season. He also mentioned that they would settle for a place in the promotional playoffs in case they failed to gain outright promotion. Black Leopards' home fixtures include Venda Football Club, Baroka FC, Orbit College FC, University of Pretoria, and NB La Masia.
The four matches that they will play in the absence of their home crowd are JDR Stars, Upington City, Marumo Gallants, and Hungry Lions. Black Leopards' next fixture will be against Venda Football Club at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Tuesday, 02 April. They will wrap up their league programme with a home match against NB La Masia on Sunday, 19 May.
