LEVUBU – The Levubu Police have arrested a 24-year-old suspect of Ha-Mashau and confiscated stolen property estimated at R50 000 at the Njakanjaka RDP houses last week.

According to Insp NS Makondelele of the Levubu SAPS, an intensive manhunt by the police came after community members of Tsianda and Ha-Mashau and the surrounding villages were complaining about house breaking and theft in the area. "A breakthrough was made by our police, after receiving a tip-off from members of the community," he said.

The goods confiscated include, amongst others, a double bed, refrigerator, three hi-fi systems, video machines, one television set, welding machines and electric kettles. Makondelele said that members of the community had already started visiting the station to identify their property.

The suspect appeared in the Vuwani Magistrate's Court on Tuesday. He was not asked to plead and the case was postponed to March 3, pending further investigations.
