The draw for the Nedbank Cup qualification round for teams competing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship League was conducted at the Premier Soccer League's offices in Johannesburg on Tuesday morning. Only one of the three Limpopo-based teams will enjoy home-ground advantage in the qualification round.
Black Leopards are the only team that will play in front of their home crowd, while Venda Football Club (VFC) and Baroka FC will be on the road for their fixtures. Although the league has yet to confirm the dates and venues for the qualification-round matches, they are scheduled to take place next Tuesday and Wednesday, 3 and 4 December.
Lidoda Duvha will host Cape Town Spurs at the Thohoyandou Stadium. Cape Town Spurs were defeated 1-2 by Black Leopards in their league match at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town on Sunday, 3 November.
In an interview with the head coach of Black Leopards, Mr Maxwell Konadu, shortly after the draw, he expressed confidence, saying they were prepared to face any side at any venue. He added that playing Cape Town Spurs at home was a bonus for his team.
When asked whether his focus might shift from the league title to the Nedbank Cup, Konadu stated that while winning the Nedbank Cup for the supporters was part of their mission, his primary goal remained securing promotion to the Betway Premiership League at the end of the season.
VFC will face JDR Stars, while Baroka FC will visit Casric Stars. The match between VFC and JDR Stars will mark their second encounter in 10 days, following VFC's 1-2 loss to JDR Stars last Saturday.
Other fixtures include Leruma United vs Pretoria Callies, Orbit College vs Kruger United, University of Pretoria vs Hungry Lions, and Durban City vs Highbury FC.
