Black Leopards must defeat Orbit College FC in their Motsepe Foundation Championship League match at Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday to keep their hopes of promotion alive.
Things are quickly going from bad to worse in the Leopards' camp. The team has failed to secure a single victory in their last six games. Their most recent win was against Cape Town Spurs, whom they beat 2-1 at Cape Town Stadium on Sunday, 3 November.
The head coach of Black Leopards, Maxwell Konadu, has admitted that the team's poor form is a serious concern for everyone at the club. He acknowledged that losing home games jeopardises their chances of promotion. He referred to last Saturday's situation, where they suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat to the struggling Venda Football Club at the same venue.
Leopards' skipper, Thendo Mukumela, is doubtful for Saturday's match. Mukumela was replaced by Tshepo Matsimbi in last Saturday's game against VFC after sustaining an injury to his right foot. If Mukumela is unavailable for selection, Tebogo Makobela, Sidney Fakude, and Ndivhuwo Ravhuhali are expected to step up.
Orbit College are in second place on the log with 28 points, three behind the leaders, Durban City.
Venda Football Club will face Milford FC at Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban on Sunday. Other weekend fixtures are: Baroka FC vs Hungry Lions, Casric Stars vs Durban City, Highbury FC vs the University of Pretoria, JDR Stars vs Leruma United, Pretoria Callies vs Kruger United, and Upington City vs Cape Town Spurs.
