"I still have a long journey ahead to accomplish what I have started, but I am certain of my future, and that's what drives me to work harder when I get up every morning."
These are the words of 19-year-old Liener Munyai, a young woman from Mudimeli village, who is in the process of carving out a career as model. She is currently studying for a BA degree in environmental sciences at the University of Venda.
Liener was discovered by local photographer brothers Charles and Prince Sigebe, who also act as a modelling agency in Vhembe.
"I've always wanted to be a model, but I couldn't put my dream into motion because I had no money," she said. "I think it's the right time to show the world what I can do from here on, without hesitation."
Liener, who matriculated at Mudimeli Secondary School, joined the modelling industry early this year. "I am well armed with what it takes to participate in any modelling contest, since I had prepared myself through watching many pageants online and on TV," she said. "I also attended many of them. I joined Charles and Prince Photography in January of this year, and they are helping me with modelling etiquette through private modelling coaches."
Liener said that she still had to travel a long way to reach her destiny, but that she has a lot of motivation and determination. "At the end of the day, I want to see myself as star model of the fashion world," she said. "I'll achieve that, for I am a focused, dedicated, and self-disciplined person."
