Ligege Secondary School in Duthuni village, near Thohoyandou, has achieved a remarkable milestone by maintaining a 100% matric pass rate for the second consecutive year. The school's principal, Thomani Demana, expressed his excitement and credited the success to early preparation and a strong foundation built from Grade 8.
"Last year, we celebrated a 100% pass rate, and this year, we are celebrating the same achievement. I am proud that our school has achieved a 100% pass rate again, with 64.5% of our learners obtaining bachelor passes. Out of 92 learners, 72 are now eligible for university," he said.
Demana praised the dedication and hard work of the teachers, saying their commitment had brought pride to the Dzindi Circuit. "At Ligege Secondary, learning is a priority. You won't find learners wandering around during lessons. We take teaching and learning very seriously, and we've already started preparing for the next academic year. I am confident we will achieve another 100% pass rate this year," he added.
He emphasised the role of teamwork in the school's success, highlighting the collaboration between the school-governing body, management team, and teachers. "Our teamwork is what makes us stand out. Despite challenges, our passion for education has kept us focused. Everyone involved, from teachers to the governing body, has played a crucial role in our success. Now that we're at the top, we are determined to maintain our standards," said Demana.
This year, Ligege Secondary was the only school in the Dzindi Circuit to achieve a 100% pass rate. Demana said the school had already registered 91 learners in Grade 12 for the upcoming year and was determined to remain the best.
He also thanked the community for their continued support, including cultural leaders, local chiefs, pastors who offered prayers, and parents. "The community has been instrumental in our success," he concluded.
