Road works in the deep rural communities of the Lim 345 local municipality received a huge boost, thanks to the two graders to the value of R2 million recently bought by the municipality.

The mayor of Lim 345, Cllr Joyce Bila, who handed over the two graders to the drivers at the technical services department during an event at the Malamulele traffic station last Monday, said that the municipality couldn't do their job properly without graders.

"Every week there are funerals in our rural villages, and communities used to worry about the bad state of roads leading from their homes and graveyards. We will now be able to render better services to our communities," she said.

According to Cllr Bila, her municipality has a backlog of the so-called bemuda roads (roads where construction started but has not yet been completed) and communities such as Jerome, Bevhula, and Nghezimani, among others, are set to benefit from the newly bought graders.

"We also want our internal streets be good all the times, because we will always be able to upgrade them. We can assure our communities that, from now onwards, we will work around the clock to delivery better services to them," added Bila.

Mr Samuel Shirinda of Jerome village in Malamulele area said the dusty roads and streets were in a bad state, but they hoped things would change for the better for them.
