Limpopo artists who have not yet entered the inaugural LIMPRO Music Awards have been given a final opportunity to submit their entries after organisers extended the deadline to 15 June due to overwhelming demand.
The awards, organised by the Limpopo Music Performers Rights Organisation (LIMPRO), will celebrate and honour both emerging and established artists from Limpopo. The main ceremony is scheduled to take place on 1 August 2026 at Christ Worship House in Shayandima.
LIMPRO CEO Justice Mbedzi said the decision to extend the deadline followed numerous enquiries from artists who missed the initial closing date.
“After the closing date, many artists continued to contact us requesting an opportunity to enter the awards. We were left with no option but to extend the deadline to accommodate them,” said Mbedzi.
He also confirmed that award-winning Limpopo-born artist Makhadzi has been booked to perform at the event. “She is booked and we have already paid a deposit,” said Mbedzi.
In a move aimed at broadening participation in the entertainment industry, organisers have introduced several new categories. These include Best Producer, Best Recording Studio, Best Radio Presenter, Best Actor/Actress, Best Content Creator and Best Event MC.
“We have added these categories to ensure that everyone involved in the entertainment industry is recognised and celebrated,” Mbedzi said.
The awards are open to all artists born in Limpopo, including those currently residing in other provinces. Nominees are expected to be announced shortly after entries close on 15 June.
