Limpopo Premier Stanley Mathabatha promised the learners of Rivoni School for the Blind that the school's dilapidated infrastructure would soon be upgraded.
Premier Mathabatha visited the school last Wednesday (15th) and met with members of the school governing body, the royal family of Njakanjaka and the principal of the school.
According to Kenneth Mativha, the premier's spokesperson, the various stakeholders informed the premier of what needs to be in place to make learning a success at the school. Among their requests were teaching aids such as braille equipment and an improvement of the school's infrastructure.
Currently, the Rivoni School for the Blind makes use of temporary classes, many of which leak when it rains. After observing the dilapidated infrastructure, the premier promised to have a contractor on site in April.
In spite of the lack of proper facilities, the Rivoni School for the Blind has delivered above-average matric results the past few years. One of the top matriculants for 2019, Tiyane Mbendzani, came from Rivoni.
