Limpopo snatches victory with only two balls to spare

Louis Trichardt’s Coca-Cola 20/20 challenge drew to an exciting close on Sunday, July 28, with Limpopo Dairy managing to snatch victory away for the Indian XI with a mere two balls to spare in their allotted overs.

Indian XI batted first and got of to a somewhat shaky start with openers Sohail Kadu and Patel Arsad both being caught out with their totals on 14 and 3 respectively. Usman Rahad and Mukhtar Patel, however, managed to stabilize Indian XI's innings with useful contributions. Usman hit 31 runs, which included four fours, before being caught out, while Mukhtar's 49 included six fours and a six before he was run out just one shy of his half century. After their departure, none of their other fellow team mates could go into double figures, with Indian XI being bowled out for 156 runs. As for the bowling team, Limpopo's Drikus Fourie did the most damage, claiming three wickets, with Joubert Fourie and Dirkie van den Berg each taking two wickets.

For Limpopo Dairy, opener Leon Olwage was the pick of the batsmen, with an impressive 60 runs coming of the bat before he was caught. His hit included eight fours and two sixes. Other useful contributions came from team mates Lourens Badenhorst (18), Gerrie Oelofse (28 not out) and Joubert Fourie (24). Mark Liebowitz also ended on a not-out score of 8 with Limpopo bettering Indian XI's score by two runs to win the match with a total of 158 for the loss of six wickets in the final over. For Indian XI, bowler Mustak Peer did the best by taking two wickets, which included that of Olwage.
