Emerging gospel music singer Linah Tshipandu, better known as Linah T, who worked behind the scenes as a backup singer for other artists for years, has finally released her own EP, Rivusuludze.
For the 47-year-old musician from Miluwanien Unit C in Thohoyandou, the five-track EP is the culmination of a long-cherished dream to release her own music.
The project, released on Friday, 24 October, saw the enthusiastic singer collaborating with seasoned musician Isirael Netshilata, with recording by DJ Light.
Three standout tracks on the EP are Hune Ndaya, the title track Rivusuludze, and Haho ono Fana Navho.
"Rivusuludze is a song of hope. It is a prayer to God that He bring peace to this land, which the devil has taken control of. We wake up daily to brutal and senseless killings, and the country is overwhelmed by incurable diseases. Here, I am trying to remind everyone that when all else fails, we have a refuge to run to. There is a cross at Calvary where Jesus was crucified on our behalf," she said.
According to Tshipandu, the EP represents a dream come true.
"These are the fruits of my many years of toil, a journey I started in 1993 as a member of the worship team at Lutendo Phanda Ministries in Tshitotsheni. I went on to work for the legendary Tshivenda traditional music icon, Naledzani Netshirembe. It was only in January this year that I began working on this project. I have finally arrived, and gospel music lovers can expect much more to come," Tshipandu said.
