A resident of Makhithi village in the Kutama area, Mr Elijah Liremi, was recently nominated as a finalist for two Edu awards.
The winners will be announced during a ceremony at Midrand on 19 June. Liremi is the founder of the Liremi Foundation, an organisastion that helps pupils from the rural area with their studies and also provides them with career guidance.
Liremi is nominated in two categories, African Edu and Environmental. According to him, he was surprised when he received an invitation to attend the ceremony as a nominee.
He added that he was very thankful to Messrs Norman Kutama and Christopher Mudau, who helped him financially. He said he was a happy man, because he helped many pupils from poor backgrounds around the Kutama area to register at different institutions of higher learning.
