Liverpool were superior from the start and Nditsheni "Balo" Musekwa was instrumental in their victory. The cool-headed Baldwin Sinugo put Liverpool ahead after five minutes. He scored after a scramble for the ball.

Liverpool did not stop fighting and put their opponents under pressure in all departments. It came as no surprise when Nndwakhulu Mukhumeni scored easily in the 12th minute. Brooms' Ronald Mudau was all over the opponents' defence, but failed to break the solid defence of Liverpool.

Musekwa was on target for the third goal. Brooms scored their first goal in the 38th minute. Lesley Mulaudzi was on target after forcing his way through the defence. The half-time score was 3-1 in favour of Liverpool.

Early in the second half, Brooms scored their second goal. Maanda "Power" Gumbu scored with a bicycle kick, following a scramble within the box.

The second half saw Brooms create numerous scoring chances, with the opponents' keeper pulling off brilliant saves. Mpho Khantshi of Liverpool was cautioned with a card for a late tackle on Musa Makhubele in the 74th minute.

Realizing that victory was almost certain, Liverpool started to relax on the ball as part of their delaying tactics. Mulalo Mamphweli of Brooms missed a sure goal in the 78th minute.
