The well-known welterweight boxer from Vhembe, Tsiko "Cruel Junior" Mulovhedzi, will defend his IBF title when he meets Lazlo Toth of Hungary at the Ngoako Ramatlodi Sport Centre tonight (Friday).
The event is staged by Limpopo Champions Promotion.
Mulovhedzi's bout is scheduled over 12 rounds, and according to observers, the fight can be a humdinger and may go the full 12 rounds. Cruel Junior is adamant that he will outclass the Hungarian. He said that he was not moved by his opponent's recent threats to dent his record. "I am well-prepared well for the event, and I am sure that I will bring home the championship belt."
He said that Toth should not make the mistake to think he is in the country on holiday. Mulovhedzi said that he would use the fight as a springboard to a national title fight that could take place soon. "I am ready. I am fit physically and emotionally and with the support coupled with the training that I am busy with, there is no way my opponent can beat me."
Other Vhembe boxers will be seen in six fights during the event. The promoter of Limpopo Champions Promotions, Mr Phathutshedzo Dongola, promised that the fights will produce maximum entertainment. "Limpopo has an abundance of talent when it comes to boxing. We must nurture and promote them to achieve greater heights, so that we can galvanise the future of boxing. In Limpopo, we have very few champions, so let's support them and raise the flag high," Dongola said.
The tournament will start at 19:00. Tickets cost R50 per person and a VIP ticket R200.
